How Firm is the Purple Hybrid Mattresses
Let’s next look at how these bed/in-a-box hybrids actually felt. Below is a detailed account of how I felt when I slept on the three Purple Hybrid models. Keep in mind that feel is subjective, and can change depending on your body type and preferred sleep position. Referring to my height, I am 5’9″ and 125 lbs. I prefer to sleep on my side.

Back sleepers should enjoy the feel of the Purple Hybrid.
Purple Hybrid Premier 3 – I gave this bed an 8.6 out of 10. It felt medium-firm to me. Combination sleepers, who frequently shift between positions throughout the night, and those with lower back pain or seeking a mattress to support sciatica, will love this bed. It provides pressure relief and support which can be adjusted to suit any sleeping position.
Purple Hybrid Premier 3 could feel great for couples who are looking to sleep together.
Purple Hybrid Premier4: This bed scored a 6/10 on the mattress firmness scale. This soft mattress supported my pressure points well and provided a good amount of sinkage. But, I still didn’t feel “stuck-in” the bed. Side sleepers and side-combined sleepers would love this mattress. This mattress’ pressure relieving qualities will be appreciated by side sleepers and side combination sleepers.

Are Purple Hybrids Good For Light Sleepers (Under 130 Lb)?
Light Back Sleepers – I believe the Hybrid Premier 3 is an excellent choice for light back sleepers. It should fill in their lumbar areas for pressure relief and also provides plenty of support for those who are lighter. Either of the other hybrids could also work for these sleepers.
Light Side Sleepers-The Premier 4 is the ideal choice for these types of sleepers. Side sleepers will find it offers excellent pressure relief.

Are Purple Hybrids Good For Average Weight Sleepers (130-250lb)?
Average Weight Back sleepers – The Hybrid Premier 3 is the perfect choice because it combines pressure relief with support. If you need to move around at night, it’s a good option.
Side sleepers with average weights – The Premier 4 mattress is the best for them. Its thick, top layer of hyper elastic polymer gives you plenty of pressure relief at your hips and shoulders.

Are Purple Hybrids suitable for heavy sleepers (over 250lb).
Heavy Back Sleepers – I’d recommend these sleepers stick to the Premier 3, which is thick enough to be durable, but won’t feel overly soft.
Heavy Side Sleepers: The Premier 4 is a good choice for heavy side-sleepers. The Premier 4’s thick grid layer allows for plenty of sinkage and the soft feel should make it comfortable for side sleepers.

Purple Hybrids Pain Relief
Pressure relief is closely related to pain relief. It is an indicator of how well a mattress can ease tension at the shoulders and hips. To check this, I use a Pressure Map.
Although it sounds complicated, it is actually very simple. I just roll the gizmo and then hop on the map. The gadget tracks the force that my body exerts on the map as I move about the bed and creates a colored “map of pressure”. Blue zones indicate areas of low pressure, and red areas of high.

The map is blue across the board, but doesn’t gap around the lower back the way the Premier 3 and 4 maps do. This tells me the original Hybrid is keeping my weight evenly supported, which is a key to avoiding back pain.
Shoulder Pain According to these results, these beds are excellent choices for people suffering from shoulder pain. To relieve pressure they should do a good job cushioning the shoulder.

Motion transfer is when there is motion between the two sides of a bed. This is a crucial factor for any sleeper, but particularly for those who share a mattress with a child or furry pet friend.

The best mattress to use for sex has enough bounce and motion control to be easy to move on.
The Purple Hybrids seem a bit too soft to be shared if you aren’t a light sleeper.
Their mobility and lift could make them a great choice for you if your sleep is disturbed at night.
Cooling
All Purple Hybrids have a remarkable cooling effect.
Any of these beds is suitable for hot sleepers. I would also say that they are some of the most cooling mattresses available.

Edge Support
Edge support is a measure of whether or not you’ll be able to sleep all the way on the side of your bed and still feel supported. Edge support can make your mattress seem larger, as you can spread across its entire surface.
All three Purple mattresses provided good edge support. I could feel the Purple grid layer compress under my weight, but the foam and coils below stayed firm and supportive.
