How Firm are Purple Hybrid mattresses?
Next up, let’s get into what these bed-in-a-box hybrids actually feel like. Below, I’ll go over what it felt like to sleep on all three of the Purple Hybrid models. It is important to remember that feeling can be subjective and depend on your body type. Referring to the above, I am approximately 5’9″ and weigh 125 lbs.

Purple Hybrid. I found the Purple Hybrid mattress to be very firm and gave it a 7. This mattress will be more supportive than the industry standard of 6.5, which is for medium firmness. Because the polymer layer is thin enough for a consistent spinal line, stomach and back sleepers will benefit most.

Purple Hybrid Premier 3: I gave this bed a 6.5 out of 10 on the firmness scale, and felt it had a true medium-firm feel. I’d especially recommend this bed to combination sleepers who move between multiple positions in the night and those suffering from lower back pain or looking for a mattress for sciatica . It was able to provide pressure relief as well as support so that you can feel at ease in any of your sleeping positions.
Purple Hybrid Premier 3 could be comfortable for combination sleepers.
Purple Hybrid Premier #4: I gave it a 6 out 10. This soft mattress supported my pressure points well and provided a good amount of sinkage. However, the bed didn’t feel like it was “stuck in” to me. Side sleepers and side-combined sleepers would love this mattress. This mattress’ pressure relieving qualities will be appreciated by side sleepers and side combination sleepers.

Heavy Back Sleepers: I recommend that these sleepers stick with the Premier 3. It is thick enough for durability, but not too soft.
Heavy Side Sleepers — The Premier 4 can be a great option for heavy side sleepers. The Premier 4’s thick grid layer allows for plenty of sinkage and the soft feel should make it comfortable for side sleepers.

Purple Hybrids Pain Relief
Pressure relief and pain relief are closely connected. This refers to how well a bed is capable of relieving tension at the hips and shoulders. I use a pressure map to check for this.
It sounds complicated but it’s really quite easy. All I have to do is roll the gadget out and get on board. The map does the rest. The device tracks the force my body exerts on the surface of the map as I move, and then creates a colored map showing the pressure. Shoulder Pain Based upon these results, all three beds are great choices for those suffering from shoulder pain. They should do a nice job cushioning the shoulder area to relieve pressure.

To demonstrate motion transfer, I dropped an 10 lb steel ball, from three heights: 4 inches, 8 inch, and 12 inches. I measured the disturbance it caused. The bigger the lines, then, the more severe the disturbance.

What this tells me is that you’re likely to feel movement across all three mattresses, which means they may not be the best fit for couples, especially if one partner is easily disturbed at night. A good mattress for sex should have enough bounce and motion isolation to be comfortable to move about on.
If you are light sleeper, the Purple Hybrids may be too bouncey for you to share.

Cooling
All Purple Hybrids offer incredible cooling.
These beds are great for hot sleepers. I’d say they’re also some of the best cooling mattresses you can find.
